Question

electric fireplace insert too small - cover/flange recommendations?

Hey Guys,

We just bought our first townhouse. It has a wood fireplace which has never been used. We'd prefer to insert an electric fireplace and use that instead. Our fireplace is about 28" wide and the electric fireplace inserts are either 23" or 33". Any suggestions on how to cover up the 2 oe 3" gaps on both sides that the 23" insert would make? Any specific type of insulation, covers, flange, etc.. so it would sit in there more snug and let it show off for the Christmas guests? haha

Thanks!

You will need a perimeter trim kit. There are examples here: http://www.fireplacesnow.com/advSear...u=trim&x=0&y=0

(note: I've never bought or used anything from that site, just a quick example). You might want to look for trim kits made specifically for your make/model of fireplace insert.

Specific example for a Dimplex 23" insert: http://www.fireplacesnow.com/viewPrd...dproduct=62954

Thanks for the quick reply but WOW! Those trim's cost more than the actual fireplace insert. I'll take a look though.
