ECO / green options for insulating HVAC duct work
:wink:Hello -
I am replacing my HVAC duct system in my attic. Going from duct-board /flex duct - to an all metal duct system. My question is - I dont want to insulate the new system with fiberglass. My HVAC guy says he can glue reflective bubble wrap directly to the metal and tape all seams- rather than use fiberglass. Is this a good option? Are there better options for insulating duct work? I have heard of using cotton fiber as regular insulation - but I havent read about it being used as duct insulation. My goals are to insulate the duct work so it doesnt sweat - or lose heat. I also want to improve indoor air quality. thanks |
I believe Reflectic needs a spacer between it and the duct to achieve an R8 value.

Just have him insulate it on the outside instead of inside

Reflextics would be put on the outside. |
