Dusty house. What is the cause?

We seem to be dusting every couple of days in our 6 yr old house. What could the cause be? I noticed some dust around the furnace, thought it was sawdust but cant figure out where it is coming from. Opened one of the round access points for the ac?? and noticed some sediment inside the furnace. Is this what is causing all of the dust in the house? How do i clean the ac coils in the furnace?

hope the pictures help.

Thanks!

Check your return ducts and grilles. If the return is leaky. Able to pull air from unconditioned space, it will draw in dust.

No insect problems that I could see. The pictures may show sawdust from work done in basement. Our house just seems way too dusty for a new house.

As said the dust is most likely comming from leaky ducts or house. Most dust comes from the attic or outside through infiltration. You house needs to breath and if it gets into a negitive pressure the air will come in from wherever it can. I would have the house checked for leakage and do some sealing.

The air distribution system often gets blamed for the dust but it is only moving the dust around in most cases as it is already in the air. A good filtration system will help some with this. Where are the furnace and ducts in your house?
