Ductwork - Too many bends

The video of my little problem will take about three minutes time. Comments from individuals who have knowledge and experience in designing ducts for efficient and quiet delivery would be appreciated.

Here's the link to Photobucket: http://i1365.photobucket.com/albums/...psf9865260.mp4

P.S. First time playing with video links so... hope this works.

The 2 ells at the top after the transitions from rectangle to round can be eliminated. The main trunk line then shortened so that those supplies run straight down. But will block off the closet shelf at that end.

Also a good chance that some of your lack of air flow is from a lack of return air.

I suspected as much but wasn’t sure. If I took measurements and a few photos to a tinsmith (or HVAC shop), would they feel comfortable enough to make a duct or would they have to come to the house and do it on-site? Your best guess?

And regarding the return flow... that makes sense. The two furthest rooms at the end of those ducts (one goes through the kitchen which is fine regarding temperature) are the coldest in the house; living and dining rooms. The return air duct for BOTH rooms is across the foyer and the direction of that flow goes from floor to ceiling, under the second story floor, right angle along space created by two rafters, back down below first floor level, then into the furnace. If ever there were a place needed for a booster fan, it’s probably in that circuit. Is it recommended to place a fan in such area? If placed in the foyer wall, it may create a current that draws from the living room across the hall floor. OF course... it’ll also help locate leaks from the front door.

I appreciate the help.

Most fab shops will accept drawings.

Doubt a fan will help. Adding more return probably would make a large difference.

And THAT may be a problem. I'll have to look at it hard. I appreciate the help.
