Ducts in attic or crawlspace?

I'm installing a new system and after learning way more than I expected to have to learn, I really only have one question left (i hope).

I have to put the air handler in the attic, so my question is; given that there are 2 truths, duct runs should be kept as short as possible, and floor registers are the best for heating, Should I use short runs and ceiling registers, or should I take trunks down to the crawl and run branch lines in the crawl over to the outside walls so I can have floor registers?

Thanks for any advice.

Select supply registers that throw the air down.

May want to have your return ran to the crawl to have a low return.

I would run the duct right down the middle of the attic with diffusers one way blow to the exterior walls and the return in the center hallway with the thermostat on the wall below the return air grill. Good Luck watch out for those sharp roofing nails.

Thanks you guys. I figured ceiling registers would be the proper thing to do.
