Duct work


Aim putting in a 3 ton heat pump my main trunk is 12 x8 x 20 a self contained unit I have four 6 inch rounds running off for the living room 16x32
Now I need to know what size round flex pipe should I use to to duct it up stairs I have four rooms 12x15 gaining to use one 6 inch round in each room over each window would a 10 inch round work fine if not can some one give me the right lay out tks much

Duct work


Generally, air flow needed is .8 - .9 cfm per sq. ft., assuming 8' ceilings and avg. heat load.

Metal round duct: 6" = 85 cfm. 10" = 325 cfm

Your 12X8 main trunk is about the right size for a 1 ton unit. 28X8 or 22X10 would be more appropriate for the main trunk.
