duct design question

in manual d .22 in.mg. is used for the pressure drop for the coil of the air conditioner. is this the figure always used? do different units have different figures? i want to design a system that will work for air when i have the money to put one in. right now i only want heat, but i want to design the ducts to accomadate air.

Typically

They would use a factor that would represent the most common (average) that you expect to find.

Ideally, you would find the PD in the literature of the AC coil you are going to use and apply accordingly.

would the same apply to the grills and registers? in the manual they used .03 in.mg. for the grills and registers. should i check out the manufacturers specs for these as well?

Yeah. I would go with a national brand that you can obtain catalog on.

In it you will finda a variety of registers, diffusers and grills along wit KA factor(fancy name for free area of rgister) pressure drops and other design criteria.

Just for sh!ts and gigles I checked some registers at HD and Lowes for tech specs, nothing on the box. Called the customer service number and they didn't even know a KA factor was.
