Drywall over thermopan

I am finishing my basement and we are going to be drywalling right to the floor joists. My question is whether I should remove the thermopan for the cold air returns or leave it in place. I am worried if I leave it in place you will see it after the drywall is up. Thanks for the help in advance.

Tear it out if you want. Make sure to run a bead of caulk on the floor joist so there's a good seal to the drywall.

Dont know. Might ask in the drywall forum.

I do realize this thread is a few months old, but I came here with the same question. What is the purpose of the Thermopan? The drywall will serve the same purpose if I remove the Thermopan? It's okay to drywall right over the other ductwork too? This forum is great. This is my first post, but I've spent a lot of time lurking.
