I have an upstairs laundry and the dryer vents out about seven or eight feet below the peak of my roof. This means there is a blocked in area for the vent in the bathroom which is next to the dryer. I would prefer to vent the dryer into my attic and out the roof top or have it turn inside the atic and vent out closer to the roof peak. Then there would not be any long pipe in the house interior.
Is there some good reason or code I can not do this? I have to wonder why the prior owner did not do it this way. I have also heard an upstairs laundry is a bad idea so I would appreciate any input. Thanks in advance for all answers.
we used to run bathroom vents to the nearest roof vent. This is no longer compliant there is no reason you can't run it to a dedicated roof jack or out the gable. Insulate the pipe in the attic or it will condensate on the inside. Hot moist shower steam running through a cold attic not the best but it works.
