Dryer vent and fan exhaust


First post, first home.

The previous owners put a bathroom in the basement of a cape I just bought. The washer and dryer are also in the bathroom. The vent that goes to the outside is connected to both the dryer vent AND the exhaust from the ceiling fan. They are Y-ed in and vented to the outside. I was wondering if this was OK to do. I've attached a photo. Dryer vent is on the left and fan exhaust on the right.

No. It's not alright to tie them together like that. You'll need to run a seperate duct for each one.
