Coming down to the wire on this house deal. All contingencies have
been removed, and I have sent all the money to the escrow. We go on record Monday or Tuesday.
Getting ready to loosen those purse strings..... Not quite yet though. I did order some JB Schrader valve cores and caps. Plan to put all of that stuff new.
Bought some 3/8 couplings at the HVAC store and spent an afternoon practicing brazing. First one was a little iffy - melted a bit off the coupling. Then I dialed it in with a little tiny flame, and the rest went fine.
I did have some doubt about getting good capillary action - the silfoss 15 seems rather "gooey". So I hacksawed one apart diagonally. Hard to tell - the copper sort of smushed around - but it seemed plenty solid.
I ordered an Appion valve core remover with a side access port - it's not the cheapest, but they claim it's "vacuum rated". Also a swaging kit. Figure that will eliminate half of the brazed joints. A coupling = 2 brazed joints - with a swage, only one.
Got a whole list of things to order. My trigger finger is getting itchy...
