hello, i have to stainless chimneys side by side one wood and one oil. when 1 is being used there is a down draft inthe other. any body have any advice, it would be greatly appreciated. to explain further, when im burning wood i get smoke coming bak down through the damper on my oil chimney.
In order for the wood or oil to burn. It needs air. That air comes from your house. After so much is burned with teh fuel. New air must come into the house to replace it.
in your home. that new air is coming from the opposite chimney. So you need to provide another way/method for the air to be replaced. Its known as make up air, or combustion air intake.
A small intake. Probably a 6". Terminated near the stove.
With either a damper you can shut off when not using the stove.
Some people, just open a window an inch or so.
