does sealing gap under bathroom door impede operation of bath vent fan?

I don't know much about vent fan operation. My family doesn't like the cold draft air that gets pulled into the bathroom from under the door when bath vent fan is running. If I seal the gap under the door w/ weatherstripping or the stuff you use to block air flow under doors, will that impede the vent fan operation? Does the vent fan need to pull air from outside the bathroom or what's in the room itself is good enough?

It need to pull air into the bathroom. Or else the fan can't do anything. Leave the gap.

So the chilly air being drawn in at the lower level doesn't feel good on the damp feeties eh. You could solve the problem by installing a louver near the top of the door for air admittance and sealing the bottom. That cooler air entering at the upper level would be mixed with the warm humid air as it falls to floor level and never be noticed.

Be careful about sealing that room up too tight.

The fan could suck some toothbrushes, washclothes, etc. up and out of the room.

Worst case scenario would be the tile being sucked off the walls, then the walls imploding on each other.

Don't risk it man.

Congratulations, your bathroom fan is working as intended! You could install a fan with a heater element.
