does gas fireplace need fan?

i just had installed a heatilator gas direct vent fireplace. it doesnt include a fan kit. the heating guy says it wont need a fan and im getting mixed info from others. the kit is around $150.00 and i will need to run power to the fireplace.

I'm a Heatilator distributor/installer, and I would say that you WILL get more heat out of the unit with a blower. The fireplace won't actually generate more BTUs, but you will be moving them more efficiently into the room.

It's worth the $, in my opinion, but then I sell them every day...;-)
