Do I need a new inducer motor?

That completely depends on you, and how much mechanical aptitude you have. I suspect not much since you called a blower wheel a gear. (No Insult intended, just being honest) I have seen the price on these things, and they are ridiculous for what they are.

They are pretty much like ink cartridges for printers, ridiculously priced, and as impossible to repair as the OEM can make them.

I would probably try, but as beenthere says, probably not worth it. As I recall, One poster said that the blower wheel on his was plastic, and the motor shaft wore out the center of the fan making it wobble, and hang up. In that case I would fix it by boring the center, and pressing in a bushing, but that takes some tools which you may not have. I do.

The point I was trying to make is that we claim to be going green and it is an illusion, go to any landfill, and look at what we throw away.

I am 66 and I remember when you could buy a fuel pump rebuild fit for $3.50. Now we throw them out.

the only thing green is the grass they plant on top of the landfill when they are finished with it. that fact is we have a lot of cheap land to dig a big hole in and bury our garbage. Unlike Europe where they don't and have to recycle EVERYTHING. I was in Vienna at Mc Ronnies and when I finished my Big Mack they took the wrapper, straw from my drink, drink cup, tray liner and seperated and recycled each one. The garbage burning plant/incinerator produces steam and electricity and VERY little polution as it has scrubbers on the exhaust and is designed to not look ugly and no one even knows it is there. As it is cost effective we probably will still dig a hole in the ground. plus people don't REALLY want high quality goods, they want cheap TVs etc and with easy credit and wanting new flashy stuff all the time that likely is not going to change.

1000 years from now when the archeologists are digging in the US Landfills they will swear they are in a country that was once called China.
