Distance between Furnace and wall

We want to remodel our basement and I have a question I can' seem to find an answer for anywhere online. Even in the PDF code book for New JErsey.

My questions is..

How far does the back of a wall have to be from the front of the furnace? The furnace itself says 30'' but I remember reading somewhere else that it was more then that. Is it 36'' or more?

The install instructions are right. As long as you can get the blower out and service the furnace you should be ok.

according to the national building code you need 36" for service but this is from side to side the manufacturers recombination is correct.
