Direction/spacing of 2-1/2 ton Carrier 38HDR030 condensing unit ?

Direction of 2-1/2 ton Carrier 38HDR030 condensing unit ?
This unit has the fan that blows horizontally .Specs say "with coil facing wall allow 6in."--OR--With fan facing wall allow 8in. minimum(in this position the air is drawn in from the house side and blows thru coil toward fence).House is44" from fence, unit will use up 17" and it would be nice to squeeze by it if it won't compromise efficiency. Also cleaning and maintenance ?
Better from fan side ? Unit stands 37" high, 44"wide ,17" front to back. I was thinking of having the coil on the house side and increase the 6"min.to 8" This will allow only19" to access everything from the front (fan) side. They suggest 3ft.!!!!???
Any suggestions ? comments ?
By the way this is the only location that I have .But I have not yet purchased the unit but every thing else is installed (all carrier Infinity)
Any help From PRO'S in the know would greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance---Ric (from Edmonton Alberta Canada)

you can have the unit installed vertical or horizontal with air flow up, down, left or right. Just order the right configuration.
