direct vent water heater location

I need to move my water heater as we are building around the area it is in, and its in direct line of a wall that will go in... right now the vent runs straight out from it to the rim joist and out the house only 1 elbow total

where can I place the exaust vent in relation to things outside? where I want to move it, if I run the vent straight it will be right beside the AC unit, or can I run a line from where it will be moved and join it to the old line as long as it slopes down towards the water heater? that would create one elbow at the top of the heater, one elbow at the end of the first run then up about 1 ft then another elbow that turns 90 degrees to connect to the existing exaust vent pipe....

the manual says a max 3 elbows, but says nothing about turns in the pipe so im not sure on that one and using their calculations, i'm within the max length, i have to go 15 ft out and 8 ft back and with the 3 elbows calculated in im still within their max 40 ft....

any issues or anything I should know about this?

Most water heaters want the flue sloped away from the water heater.

Sounds like you'll be ok.

A pic or drawing would help.

here's a simple drawing, tan is the current location where the pipe goes straight up then straight out, red is the new location with the green being the new 3" pipe for the venting

Should be fine.

that's what I was thinking when I read the manual's specs for the vent, but just wanted to be sure someone else agreed with me on this
