Dehumidifier on Carrier Heat/Cool

I have a black box that is on the floor next to the Carrier furnace that I believe acts as a dehumidifier for both gas furnace and central air. I must have not been working a few days ago as I had some water on the basement floor. I unplugged the black box, plugged it back in, and it does not stop running now. I believe there is some type of float that needs to be engaged. I took one screw off the top and removed the top to expose the motor, and there was a white lever that looked like it was attached to the float. That is how I got it going again, but now it has not shut off.

That's a condensate pump. The float must be stuck.

You can buy a new pump for about $65.00

You can probably get yours going again if you look at it closely.

BTW, that isn't a dehumidifier. It removes the condensate from your evaporator coil when the AC is running and the condensate from the furnace in the winter.
So, in a sense, it does remove the water from your dehumidifier, which is your evaporator coil!

It just seemed like I could get it to work properly as it was still pumping out water. I will be relacing it at this point after spending LOTS of time trying to make it work properly. Thank you sooooooo much! Nice to know there are great people out there as yourself willing to help people that are hurting from this economy! You are AWESOME!!!!!
