Defrost tempering for Lennox XP21/SLP98/iComfort

I have the Lennox XP21/SLP98/iComfort system. Per the manual, the iComfort does not have defrost tempering function, so cold air blows out during defrost. What I've noticed is that the "W" terminal from the XP21 still produces 24VAC during defrost. Will it be possible to reconnect this back to the "W1" (via defrost tempering kit 67M41) in the SLP98 so it triggers the furnace during defrost? Will it mess up the iComfort or the system? This was how it was previously hooked up when I had the Honeywell IAQ thermostat. I later changed to the iComfort as it gave me better control over the system. Thanks.
