decision on what brand gaspack is best

Am in need of purchasing 4 new gaspacks for my 1984 4 plex. The units are two story and around 950 square feet. There located in northern California in the Sierra foothills. I'll be paying about 30,000 for the 4 units so would like to have moderately efficent and trouble free units. I'm hearing that two ton units are about right. Any ideas about what brands or models are good.

Can you explain the term gaspack to this simple midwestern plumber?

Yup, had some of those, myself. But I suspect the OP means package furnace/ac units... which I know absolutely nothing about.

Flip a coin.

being outside they all seem not to last as long as residential furnace.

brand I see and use most is York.

York makes their units with the evap coil after the gs heat exchanger. So the heat exchanger last longer.

The rest need to step up to the plate and do the same. Far too many have rotted out exchangers in 10 years.

About right ?? Make sure they do a heat load and loss calculation and show you those numbers so they are sized properly. York is a good choice and is one of the top tier brands.

Guess you haven't seen any of the new ones recently(since 08 or 09). Check out the Affinity line before you say its not true. You might learn something.
