Crown Oil Furnace Short Cycling

Hello, I've got a 4 year old Crown oil fired hot water furnace thats short cycling. Its got 3 zones, basement, bedroom and main living area. The limits are set at 180 high and 160 low. The unit was just serviced a few months ago and it seemed to get a little worse after the service. I'm not sure if he adjusted the limits and made it worse. We've only owned the house for just a year so I can't give you an idea of how it was before. We've got one programable thermostat and 2 mercury thermostats. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

http://www.heatinghelp.com has some great resources and good pros on the "Wall" post there, and I expect you will get some good suggestions.

For reference http://www.heatinghelp.com

At there is a 'Questions' link in the main banner. For some reason they call it "the Wall". The 'Search' tool in the orange banner [Exit New Message Search Options] is a great tool for finding germane information.

To post a new thread

1. Click "New Thread";
2. Insert a Topic (Crown Oil Furnace Short Cycling ) works just fine;
3. Select "The Wall" for Heating questions;
4. Fill in the "Post Question" Form;
5. Wait for responses.

The more information you give the better. But beware of getting long winded (good advice, eh?).

caveat: everyone will recommend you get dan Holohan's books about steam heat and boilers. Prepare yourself for it.

PS. For some really technical stuff check out and post at http://www.boilerroom.com/homeforum.html. They really really know their stuff.

Happy Heating

Hey, thanks. That was a little tricky to find, thanks for the guidance and thanks for the heads up on the book recommendation.
