covering AC for the winter

can anyone tell me if this is a good idea? some say yes and others, no?

usually i would cover my whole unit (top and sides with a tarp? is this a good practice?

thanks for any feedback!

It is. Keeps the snow/freezing rain from getting on the fan blades etc. Heavy accumulation of snow can bend them. Best to leave a couple inches open at the bottom of the coil for drainage and air circulation.
