Pardon the ignorance of this California boy but do I need to cover my condenser during winter snows? There are covers at home depot which I see many of my neighbors using and when I asked one about it he said it was to keep water out of it. I guess water getting into the condenser, freezing, and expanding might cause a problem but won't covering it cause condensation which could do the same thing?
Dont worry about snow on your condensor. They're made to be outside and can handle the elements. Covering your condensor tightly can trap moisture and accelerate corrosion on some of the electronic parts. If you feel the need to keep snow off of it cover the top with a board.
Thanks everyone. As always I would be lost without this site and the experience of all of you.
