Converting HVAC 10 inch duct to 6 inch HVAC duct

Can you convert a 10 inch duct to a 6 inch feed vent?

If your talking a round duct. Not a good idea, as it will restrict air flow too much, and harm the equipment.

So, if I have 6 inch feed vents, and had 6 inch ducts that were change to 10 inch to get more air flow, can I keep the 6 inch feed vent. If so, how?

So if I already have 6 inch feeders, but replace a 6 inch duct with a 10 inch duct, can I use a 6 inch converter, or do I need to change the feeders to 10 inches?

You only gain slightly keeping the 6" take offs/start collars. Best to use the same size start collars/take offs as the pipe will be.

Be careful going to 10" pipe. It will have a much lower velocity, unless you have a lot more air going through it then the current 6" does(as in 3 to 4 times as much air).

No. It would be nice if you could though.
