Connect Desert spring humidifier to carrier infinity 96

Hi

I just had a carrier infinity 96 installed with the infinity control thermostat. I would like to install a desert spring rotating disc humidifier to this system and have the infinity control govern the humidifier (as well as the furnace). Can some please tell me how the wiring should be done so that I don't fry the furnace's control board or burn the humidifier's motor.

thanks so much

The humidifier will be wired to "hum" and "c" on the furnace control board, and will automatically engage during a call for heat. Consult the Infinity Controller installation manual for more specifics, but this is the gist of it.

it really needs a relay and separate transformer to run a humidifier, don't take 24v from board if something goes wrong then this setup would protect board, also don't use that Hum. anything with a reservoir is not a good humidifier. it will only grow stuff no mater if its being flushed or not. get a flow through, duct mounted humidifier I use aprilaire. Honeywell is basic same design as well

Yikes! I guess I'll leave any humidifier questions alone from now on. Being from Vancouver, humidifiers aren't really used here, as moist air is something we have in abundant supply . Thanks for the eye opener tech126!

Get a good humidifier. A flow thru. Less chance of mold problems. And usually, less maintainence.

Thanks for the information.

I'll try to locate the DPST relay by calling a local HVAC part distributor.
