condo hvac unit replacement?

customer has ceiling mounted electric furnace with a/c coil, condensor is remote. Unit is only 12 inch; deep by 36 inch wide and is serviced from the bottom. Unt is approx. 25 yrs. old and has multiple problems. I cannot seem to find any sort of replacement unit for this application. What are your suggestions?

Talk to the sales reps from your major wholesalers/suppliers. They have spec sheets for the brands they sell. You are looking for an air handler with some supplemental electric elements inside and comes with an built in AC coil. The size of them varies by brand etc etc. Most of the major manufacturers have them. First Co does make some of the smallest units I have seen. Not impressed with the build quality though.

I have checked with my wholesalers and none of them have a unit with comprable specs.

what brand are you removing? where are you and what size in tons of AC and how many KW of electric heat is in it? the old Lennox units are obsolete and they have airhandlers but they are a different size. we did a conversion of one and put a Nortron electric furnace on the floor with a standard AC unit and diverted the ductwork down to the floor to fit it. VERY nice setup.

That's exactly why I wanted to see a pic! If he has one of the ceiling mount fan/strip/coil units I'm thinking he's got, they suck big time. They are usually jammed up in the corner of a tiny closet, which is invariably packed to the gills. I really, really, don't like those things.
