Condenser not turning on

I have a goodman clj60-1c and last night it stopped blowing cold. The fan in the condenser is on and spinning (appears to be normal speed). But the condenser is not kicking on. About every 30 seconds it makes a short buzzing noise then goes away. I'm pretty handy at diy just never had to tackle an a/c. I found the electrical area on the condenser but not sure where to start. Any suggestions?

I also maintain the system so I know it's none of these... It has new air filters, about 15 days old, the condenser is rinsed every month, and the drain pipe is also cleared every month with air compressor and then bleached.

I would check the compressor run capacitor first. Look for obvious signs like bulging. If it looks OK check to see if it measures the correct micro-farads or just replace it.

probably run capacitor, sometimes they bulge and sometimes not. if it's bulged it's most definitely dead or on its way out, if not you need to test it.

Condenser not turning on

Thanks, taking it off now to get a new one. It does not appear to be bulged but for $30 I'm going to start with this and see.. I'll post again if it does not work... Thanks

"Bulged" is just one tell tale sign. It could look brand new and be bad.

Please let us know.

Condenser not turning on

It was very slightly bulged. Replaced it and works! It was actually a very easy fix. Thanks for the help.
