My condenser fan motor when out on me the other day and so i replace it and the capacitor. The old motor had three wires: black, brown, and purple. The new motor has four wires: black, white, brown, and brown/white. The new capacitor is a dual capacitor (if i understand a dual capacitor meaning it has three different posts on it: herm., fan, and common) the same as the old capacitor.
I read several post online about wiring these new motors up and this is what I did...I wired black to black, which i believe goes to L1. I then wired white to purple, which goes to the, let's say 'mother board'. It is labeled as DF2 on the board. Don't know what that means. Finally i wired both brown and brown/white to the capacitor on the same post labeled 'fan'.
The problem i'm having now is that with the heat pump running in heat mode the fan turns off after running for 2-3 minutes while the compressor continues to run. I'm not sure if this is normal. Did I wire it correctly????? Any advice would help. Thanks!
