I would like to buy a new condensation trap for my furnace..the one that is for the furnace is not easy to get... and i see one similar that is easy to get.. do you think i could substitute .. they look very similar , even the different size inlet tubes.
this is my original
did you check on line at your furnace site....should be able to get same one...some of these replacement parts can be tricky ..look the same function alittle different...then problems arise
what makes you feel its the trap causing you trouble.....and yes remove it from furnace blow through it flush it with water ..reinstall see if it makes a difference.......or buy the cheaper one install see what happens we call this parts changing....just don't break old one...
when the furnace runs the condensation will very slowly back up but doesn't quite reach the furnace at this time.. once the furnace shuts off it slowly drains and clears the line... i am thinking the condensate is not going through the trap as free as it should be, not a problem now but could be later..

wash out with HOT water. shake it with the water in it. rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat... etc
