There are 2 more test. 1- continuity test C/R/S to ground
2- Megger test C/R/S to ground

Need to check high/low pressure switch

JUST A note HERE.BUYING A USED COMPRESSOR IS LIKE BUYING AN OLD YUGO WITH A MISSING KEY.DON'T PUMP TOO HARD TO THE FLOORBOARDS TO TRY AND GET IT STARTED.

Compressor not running... buy new or used?

I think I may have an idea oh what might be causing an issue.

The original compressor was single phase. The new compressor is three phase. The only thing I don't get is his ohm readings... as they look reminisent of a single phase.

A few questions...

If the tech hooked the 3 phase compressor up to single phase power, is the motor shot?

Wouldn't a 3 phase compressor give ohm readings that are the same across the board? C-S, C-R, R-S all equal each other?

It's difficult to say. But any reading under 5 ohms the compressor should be ok. Also the math should match: (C-R) + (C-S) = (S-R)

I thought ((C-R) + (C-S) = (S-R)) was for phase 1? And on phase 3, they all were the same?

3 phase you have the same values between two wires.

Wow. Well, tomorrow is going to be a pretty sad phone call. I double checked with the HVAC installer with the URL to the compressor. He never mentioned that a phase 3 wouldn't work. Partially my fault, but partially his. Especially since he installed and tested without mentioning a thing.

You live and you learn I guess.
