Compressor never shuts off

So we had a new air handler and a new condenser put in. Since then the compressor never shuts off, and the AC runs a lot cooler than the thermostat is set to. With the thermostat set to 72, one room is as cold as about 58.

I don't expect anyone to be able to help with such limited information, but how bad is it to have the compressor constantly on? (I'm assuming it's on because the fan is constantly running, and because it's so cold). How long is too long to run it this way?

Why are you just dealing with it? Call them back to fix it asap.

Compressor consistently running to me means a stuck contactor. You said the entire condenser is new. Do you mean the entire system is running well below desired set point? Are you sure both the inside and the outside units are running and again, after desired set point?

I think he means that one room is very cold and the other room won't meet the temperature on the thermostat.

OP, turn the temperature up.

The entire system is running colder than it should. In the morning the difference between the set point on the thermostat and the coldest room is 58-59 to a set temp of 72.

I know I have a problem, just wondering how bad it is for the comp to run continuously and how long it can take it.

It will definetely shorten it's life....but your concern is better placed at fixing the problem. You have a wiring problem (most likely) or a bad thermostat. It's stupid for you to worry about the compressor when it's not the real issue here.

Sounds like the control wiring is miswired.

If I have people telling me I need someone out asap before the compressor gets damaged, that carries more weight than saying my house is too cold.

If you know what I mean.
