Compressor/ fan won t start

Hey everyone,

I hooked up my 4 door coler today but it won t start automatically.

The fans on the evaporator are running so it is fine but i get a buzzing/clicking noise from a solenoid that is right after the filter dryer. It is connected to a ranco controller wich seems to be working fine.

The compressor and fan works fine when i push the capacitor in.

Any ideas why it won t start by it self?

thank you

because you're pushing the capacitor in and not the CONTACTOR?

you may have some type of tripped pressure switch which is cutting the call off to come on, more than likely too low on refrigerant. Or a stuck open solenoid.

Thank you for correcting me about the contactor. Yes when i push them in, everything start and works normally.

There is a clicking/buzzing noise coming from the solenoid after the filter dryer. The noise stop when i disconnect it from the ranco controller.

The charge is fine as there is no air bubble in the glass. It was working fine before the move and no line have been cut

the buzzing noise comes from the solenoid on the left which has one wire going to a ranco controller and another one going to L2 on the the contactor.

Any ideas why it won t start by itself when switch on??

If its not running, then you can't tell if the charge is fine. the sight glass is useless for checking charge, if the unit isn't running. A line could have cracked during the move, wouldn't be the fist time its happened to a unit.

The Ranco must be connected to operate the solenoid valve, thats a pump down system.

I thought you said it couldn't fit in your garage/building with the condenser on top of the cooler.

I just unscrewed the whole top and then got it in in 2 pieces then put the top back on it.

Like i said, i can turn the unit on by pushing on the contactor and it does bring the temperature down.

Regarding the ranco, i just meant the noise stop when it is disconnected from the solenoid. if everything is connected, nothing happened.

What s the best way to check every circuit? ( solenoid, ranco, pressure controller...)

The pressure control is holding it off. It is either out of gas or that service valve on the top area of the compressor is front seated.

The valve is all the way turn to the left ( counterclockwise ) so it is back seated. Can I disconnect the pressure controller and see if it start without damaging the unit?

What about the solenoid making noise?

Solenoid will buzz and click on and off with power cycle. You can take the cover off the pressure control and on the left side there is a sort of metal bar. If it is pushed back then it is trying to run. You can push it back with your thumb. Just be careful. If you have a meter you can check across the terminals under the cover.

Thank you. I will take a look at the pressure sensor and keep you posted.

What about the ranco? could it need to be reprogram or reset?

everything was working perfectly before they disconnected from the breakers.

Need a set of gauges to see if there is enough charge in it to start the compressor up. Then a multmeter to see f the contacts are good/ok in the pressure control. The solenoid works, thats why you hear it click and buzz.
