Clicking sound in the furnace and flame out

Hi,

When the blower turns on, the furnace (seems to come from the gas control valve) makes continuous clicking sounds like crazy and then the flame just goes out. See the youtube video:

Need some idea. Thanks.

sounds is likely from the gas valve and is most likely due to the pressure switch barely making. Check your flue and make sure it is not obstructed in any way. Does the inducer (motor above the burners) seem to be running at the correct speed? Other than that the heat exchanger will need looked at (by a pro) and the pressure at the pressure switch needs verified with a manometer (by a pro).

Yep, have the heat exchanger checked.

is that a red tag to the right of gas valve....it would have been placed there by gas company,,,for a dangerous condition on the furnace.....how long has this been doing this....agree with all have heat exchanger checked,,and gas valve.....

is that induced draft if so check the pressure switch something is bouncing the 24V to the main gas...if it is doing the same thing over and over it has to be a control....check for loose control wires something is bouncing..

Here is another video showing at the beginning of the heat cycle, no clicking after the burner is on.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-Y-nljf0GA

The clicking starts when the blower kicks in.

If I open the cover to the lower chamber where the blower and control panel are located, the burner flame will not go out and the clicking sound is less frequently.

Get the heat exchanger checked asap! Do not use your furnace until you do so!

Post brand and model of furnace. Bu you need to have that heat exchanger checked. its probably bad.

ben's plumbing 09-25-2012 11:12 AM

shut down furnace ....have heat exchanger checked......do not use it till you do.....

A dirty flame sensor would cause the burners to lock out after X tries. His isn't going back into purge mode, so its not his flame sensor.

The technician has left. The problem is caused by a loose wire in the control panel. Once the connection is tightened, the furnace is working properly.

Good news for you. But please post brand and model number of furnace.
