cleaning electronic air cleaner

What is the proper method for cleaning? I have read placing in dishwasher to just hosing the units off. Any insight would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance.

I have used both methods with success. If time is not an issue, I tend to prefer the diswhasher method.

Be careful with handling, however. These can be damaged.

My Honeywell was too big for dishwasher. In cold northern winters, I kept a short length of old hose and rinsed outdoors. I pre-squirted some non-caustic detergent like orange Fantastic, not really knowing if it helped. Didn't leave on very long before rinsing with hose.

Best to leave electrically off with furnace on for half hour or so to dry unit or lots of snapping electrical sounds of ozone burning!
