Question

Circulating problem

I have a oil fired boiler with baseboard heating. The boiler has 4 zones and I notice that the main floor zone takes a very long time to heat. the baseboard is not as hot as the other zones so I'm thinking maybe the circulator pump may be faulty. the unit is in very good condition as it is only no more then 5 years old. everything was changed. I'm running taco circulator pumps. What would I check first?? Thanks

This is not exactly my field, but...

I would first check to be sure you are getting power to the zone motor with a volt meter, then...

I would switch out the pump motor for the zone running cool with one that you know is working properly. If that corrects the problem on that floor, replace the zone circulator motor.

You may also have some flow check valves that could be sticking.
