Circuit Breaker and the A/C

Hi, this is my first time posting so bear with me. In an effort to reduce costs I switched off the breaker for our A/C for the winter (this was probably my first mistake so please don't yell too badly!). This morning was an unseasonably hot one so my hubby turned on the switch upstairs on the thermostat forgetting that I had turned off the breaker downstairs. I went downstairs to turn on the breaker switch and now it isn't working. Is this a quick fix? Just a matter of resetting anything to get these synched back up and working?? Help!!

Welcome! I am sure that someone who actually knows what they are doing will be along, but in the mean time, in a situation such as this, the first thing that I always try is to shut everything off, wait 5 minutes, then start it back up, in sequence, i.e. switch the breaker on, then the thermostat. Very likely, that will take care of it, but let us know, and, again, someone can most likely walk you through it.

How long did you wait before determining that the system isn't working? There will be a 3 to 7 minute delay before the unit starts after applying power.
