I have a detached 2 1/2 garage with a pool table and fridge basicly set up to just hang out in with winter coming I am looking for the cheapest and easyest way to heat it. It only needs to be heated when I'm goin to use it so id like for it to heat pretty fast I have considered wood but not sure I want the hassle of goin out to try to start the fire and get it warm any other ideas would be greatly appreciated
I have a packaged terminal HVAC unit (PTAC) in my attahced garage converted to hobby room. This is a unit like you often see in hotel rooms. Mounts through the wall. Frame a opening similar as you would for a window - install the metal sleeve - slide the unit into the sleeve. It provides for heat (electric heat pump) and air conditioning. Only need to run it when using the area. Nice feature is that it turn on automatically at 40 degrees cold and 80 degrees hot, even if turned off, to protect the area.
Also have a detached garage / workshop - upright kerosene heater as well as an electric heater - use the kerosene heater if colder and going to be there for some time. Electric for milder days and to just take the chill off quickly.
