Changing Defrost Period on Champion AC

Good day,

I have Champion AC/Heat Pump unit, model HP048X1321A.

I would like to know how to change the period setting used by the system to go into DEFORST mode.

I have attached a picture of the circuit board to assist you in identifying the wiring diagram.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Ron

What's your problem? Why you think you need that?

Changing Defrost Period on Champion AC

I had a AC tech out here a couple of weeks ago. We talked about whether or not I had a Stat Cutout switch. It turns out I do. He then said my defrost period was set to 15 minutes. He changed it to 30 minutes (I believe).

I would like to know how to change the period between defrost cycles so it is set to the ideal length. I think something like 60 minutes would be best. The unit has NEVER iced up or had snow build up on it.

I do plan to monitor it this Winter and change it if necessary.

Looks like the defrost stetting pins are right above the 4 gray resistors. Around here 90 minutes works best.

Changing Defrost Period on Champion AC

Hello Marty,

Thank you for the reply. I think I need to take a better picture and zoom in on the area you are talking about.

Can you tell me roughly what part of the circuit board you are talking about and I will concentrate on that area.

The Forum restricts the picture size. Can I send the picture to you directly so it will be in the highest resolution?

Thank you,

Ron

Please look at the TOP LEFT of the circuit board.

This looks like the jumper strip for changing the defrost period lengths.

1. Can someone confirm that this is the jumper strip.
2. Looks like the pins are numbers 0-5.
3. Looks like it is currently set at 1-2.

Can someone tell me what the different pins settings are for?

15, 30, 45, 60, and 90 minutes?

If I want it set to 90 minutes would I set the jumper to 4-5?

Thanks ahead of time.
