change out... going 7 days on that stat

was just in HD and they have a Honeywell digital stat for under $50 that can handle ac/heat and does a 7 day programming with a green led display.easy 5 wire change out ..might need the C side of the furnace TR but it is mint for a DIYer...just do the world a favor.. ..and shut the furnace toggle 115v off or the breaker for that furnace during the flip.while you at it get an in-line auto fuse holder with a 3A-5A fuse for the yellow wire off that TR... if there isn't a control board in that furnace...or if the board doesn't have one Honeywell package number is RTH6350D....

some don't on that power.and wing it.. and pop goes a non fused tr....$$$ that C comment depends on your old stat might of worked on a feed back and not to much solid stat ..old style Honeywells with the tan led screen .the newer stats with the big displays call for a constant 24Vs at the R to C read with a meter on the subbase...so you have 2 wires to the old sta might need a 3rd to catch that C side of the TR

I get digital 7 day Honeywell programmable stats from HD for $30. Non programmable for $20.00. I'm not sure your complaint, but whatever works, works.

Biggles..your comments made me think of a time back in 1970 when I went to fire up a new 250 HP Cleaver Brooks boiler at Warner Lambert in Toronto. Checked it all over then told the sparky it was OK to turn on the breaker. Next thing I knew, smoke started to billow out from the boiler control panel. They had installed 24V, plug in relays instead of 120V. They obviously hadn't test fired that boiler before it left the plant. A little bit of excitement but no biggy though. Just went back to the shop and got new relays.
