We just recently bought a home in Tampa Fl that was built in 2007 but never lived in. We've been having abnormally cold temperatures for this region lately.
When we run our heat (central heat) it runs fine for awhile. When it gets tot the set temperature however it starts to blow cold air. We have to go to the thermostat and bring it a degree under the set temp to get it to shut off. We can tell every time this happens because you can smell a strong AC smell coming from the vents.
Any ideas why this is happening and how we can make it just shut off when it gets to the desired temp?
I am not very handy when it comes to HVAC, but hoping it something easy before we call someone out.
Post the manufacturer and model number of the central air unit and what you have for a thermostat and its settings, and pictures sometimes help. Then perhaps someone with HVAC expertise will answer you or ask you follow up questions. Good luck.
