i just had a new 3 ton air condition central air unit put in my house. it has been 2 hours and the thermostat still says 83 degrees. Has not gone down at all. how long does it take to cool down an 1800 sq ft house?

More than 2 hours. Should be cool by bed time though.

But I'd think your humidity level should drop pretty quick.

For my 2000 sq. ft house I think it goes down a degree per hour.

I have a two ton that cools 1642 sq ft, and going from 72 to 70 at bedtime, depending on outside temps, I have seen it take aprox four hours to get the temp down.

All depends on inside temp, outside temp, time of the day and heat gain. Also has to not only cool the building, but also the furnishings. Also how much people are going in amd out, what electronics are on. Just too many variables to give you a straight forward answer.

Maybe something bad, maybe something good. I guess we'll never know, 'cause you're going to guard it. You won't touch it, will you?
