central air from above

i have an older home with hydronic heat and i would like to have my a/c no longer in my windows. i've seen some ideas in granger and jonstone but i wonder if a unit in my attic may be too noisy. and hot. i also cannot find out where the filter would go id prefer never to go into the attic again after i'm done up there..

Some have a cover underneath for the filter, with the Air return being in that place.

You can put the filter at ceiling level with a filter grille (a hinged grille that allows filter access). Having an airhandler in the attic is very common. It should be hung from the roof framing on an antivibration mount to control noise.
