cathedral cieling bath exhaust fan?

so i buy the fan my wife picked and open it up to install it in the new bathroom and it says *for flat cielings only*
now what? it is a broan 6" recessed light and fan. i have it installed but not wired till i figure this out- no where on the box or on line did it say this but it is in the directions- i will call the tech line monday when they open.... i installed it with the vent opening on the up hill side so a damper wouldnt just hang open like if it was on the downhill side..... any thoughts?
