Cat box aroma going through vents into house

I have cat boxes in the basement and the smell from them goes up the ducts. Is there anything I could put into the ducts so that the vents do not get the cat box aroma. I have a heat pump and that is what I use for my heat and air. Please help.

Clean the kat box more often

I put a small computer fan in a flexible dryer vent and ran it from above the cat box to the outside.

I would first check to make sure the litter box is not near any returns...

if you have no supply ducts cooling the basement then why are you pulling basement air into the house return should be from the 1st floor conditioned space...if you have anything sucking return air with the fan on in that basement block it off.

I am thinking your cat litter box is in the basement near the HVAC system. If that's the case, check and make sure all the doors are properly installed on your air handler, and that the gaskets are not leaking, and drafting air into the unit. I would also check for duct leaks on your returns. Purchase a small bucket of "mastic" or air duct sealant. (it's a gray puddy looking stuff) from the hardware store and seal any leaks you find. The easiest way to find air duct leaks in an intake duct I have found is to take a small piece of paper and run it across any joints. If the paper sticks, you have a leak!

Yep. Nothing could be better than working right next to a couple litter boxes, even better is when kitty comes down and drops off a fresh load.:censored:

I do kind of enjoy when the burners and heat exchanger rust out five times faster then they should from the litter box fumes. Caching $! Sorry that was mean:laughing:
