I have a gravity fed boiler radiator system, the previous owner capped off one of the runs that was heating the bathroom (due to the placement of the rad where they knocked out a wall).
They put in a very underpowered electric baseboard heater and of course the floor is freezing and I have to use a spaceheater in winter.
Since there is a supply and return line still underneath the floor in the basement, can I pipe this into pex somehow and make a subfloor heating system? The floor area in the bathroom is only 48sqft and the joists are 24" OC.
Would it be cheaper/easier to just buy one of the in-floor heating matts from costco and connect it to the circuit that the baseboard heater is on?
Is the floor insulated? If not just insulate it with R-19.
Are all the holes sealed with foam where the water and electric lines were run through the plates.
Far cheaper to just buy a longer electric base board.
