Hello everyone.

I have the above mentioned furnace. I notice it is leaking from the water trap. It has a small box installed on the right side of the unit to collect the water as I have no floor drain to run the hoses to.

The sticker says this furnace was installed in 2001 I believe, and I have been in the house since 2008. This is the first I have had an issue with water. I can see the little trap is full. I have no idea how this normally drains or why it has stopped and is overflowing now.

It has two small plastic tubes (PVC?) running to the two outward holes, and a soft hose running up from the middle hole in the trap. I assume this is the drain and it must have a pump or something that forces the excess water up and out.

Any ideas why it is overflowing now and if I can do anything about it or should I just have a tech in to take care of it?

Thanks

Craig

Is the box you talk about the trap or a condensate pump? If you have no floor drain your trap must drain into a condensate pump and be pumped to a drain. Make sure your pump is working by pouring water into it untill the float raises and turns the pump on. Make sure all connections are tight and not leaking. It could be a crack in the plastic. Good luck...

make sure it has power to it. If it is plugged in to an oulet try plugging another device you know works into the outlet to test it. Those pumps get full of slime over years. Try shaking the pump around a little to see if it will come on. You could try and take it apart and clean it or go to a home improvement store and by a new one. AS long as the power is plugged into an outlet the installation should be fairly easy for you. If you can get it to work by shaking it around a little you can try putting a little bleach in the pump to break down the scum. Hope this helps.
