Carrier Troubles - Maybe bad Gas Valve

Furnance will not ignite when it gets cold. After talking to a repair man, I replace the ignitor and cleaned the flame sensor. But, no improvement. I now think its the gas valve. Last night I took a hair dryer to the gas valve and it ignited first time. But, still would like to make sure its not the circuit board. Any way to test with a meter? Its not my hair dryer, real guys do not use them.
