Carrier System Sizing & Advice
I have two competing bids for a new furnace and A/C system. Currently I have 2 furnaces (80000btu) and 2 AC units (2.5 ton each). The system is configured with one system for the upstairs and one for the down stairs. One of the A/C units is 35 years old. Both broke on the same day (one motor and one capacitor). I have two competing bids and am not sure how to choose. The discrepancy in heat load is most confusing to me. The house was built in 1970, is 3500 ft2 and is in Northern Ohio. I assume I can negotiate these down a little, but not sure what is reasonable. Also not sure about AprilAire and Mechanical Filters. Any advice appreciated!
