Carrier Infinity WeatherMaker Furnace

Within the last two weeks my furnace keeps shutting of & in order to start it i have to turn of the emergency/kill switch -turn down the thermostat-push in the reset button on the side then turn up the thermostat & it works every time but it shuts off at least once a day--could some one tell me what the problem is or a solution?

Post a pic of the reset you are pushing. Sounds like a roll out switch. if so, your furnace may have a very serious problem.

Thank you for you response but unfortunately i do not know how to post a picture of the furnace but i check on the furnace on the internet & each part of the furnace is detailed & like you said it was listed as #17 Roll Out Switch---it's on the right hand side of the Burner Assembly --there are two wires going to the side of it with a small switch (which you push in to reset)--you said it could be serious issue?

yes, it could be a restricted secondary heat exchanger. or cracked primary heat exchanger.
